update today:

jut got email from brian, and things are on the go. they did really well with a fundraiser/party/robot night over there in ireland, and will add our funds to the ones collected there.

also, i just got another donation in from a digital vomit member, so if anyone else would still like to help out with this, you can still send me a paypal payment, and i will add it to the next batch to send over.

update is that the donated funds, plus my own donation have now gone to ireland.

i sent an analogue synthesizer to jonny, so instead of paying me the full amount, i said he should take out the donation funds and pay me the remainder. i'm not sure if he has passed on that money to brian yet, or if he still has it, but i'm sure it is in safe hands now in ireland.

i don't think we have to worry too much about rushing this album, because there wasn't much 'flavour of the month' sound on there, it will still sound as fresh whenever it is released. thank you Ruairi for not making a dubstep or breakcore album!

brian, you might want to get in touch with some of the people here who have experience in pressing vinyl.

off the top of my head, there is James Kirby (v/vm) and Guy Sterling (Rank Sinatra, etc). both those guys have a fair bit of experience and at a guess, they would share their knowledge if you mail them.

good idea.
I worry i had about CDs was that there would be a load just sat in a box somewhere.
pressing less disks (as likly with 12"), would reduce this risk, and make them so much more special.

Fitting as well as his first (planned) DV release was vinyl (dry heaves), even if it wasn't the first one out in the end.

Hi all,

Sorry it's been a while since I posted about this. First, thanks everyone so much for the donations, it's really amazing, and a huge help. I have pretty much settled on the idea of a run of 12" vinyl for the album. The reasons being that I think it is far more likely that a record will still be around intact and undestroyed in the years to come, where a cd and its case are all too fragile, and though I know I have many an unscathed cd in my collection, they are mostly the ones I have barely touched or taken off the shelf. I just keep getting the image of the cd lost under someones couch. I think there is perhaps more respect bestowed on a record, because it has more of a presence(plus more room for optional writings and pictures/artwork as you open it up). I have been perusing a few websites, getting quotes etc. So as soon as I find 'the one', i'll be back. Plus, if anyone knows of any good sites for this, I may not have seen it, please let me know. Apologies again for the delay in getting back, I've been fairly busy.

Oh, and I'm not sure if I have mentioned this already, but naturally anyone who has made a donation is entitled to some copies. I'll guess i'll know
how many when I figure out exactly how many there will be in total.

if you're looking for a "target" amount and aren't too skint (as you UK people might say), i'd just take the average of what's already been contributed: 9 people = 638 euro, which would be an average of 70 euro (although my contribution was, unfortunately, less than that).

i dunno….give what ya can. don't worry about it as it's all appreciated and every bit helps.

hi everybody,
i just came back to the site having been working a lot these last dazes (without webacces at work) and seen that there's a lot going on…
of course i'll also support this cause with a donation, and have just opened up a paypal account. i need to wait until the money i transacted from my bankaccount goes there, so it'll be in a few days or next week (according how busy/etc. i'll be working)… hope there's enough time for that.
thanx matt for organising this.
oliver

Quick update on what's happening here: it was fairly unanimously decided that we'd get together and get some funds together to finance a physical release of DVR031 - ROBOstud - Soothing Sounds For 22nd Century Factory Workers.

The actual release will be organized by Brain, Ruairi's brother, and details of that will appear shortly i guess. However we can start to get the funds together now.

As Brian doesn't have a paypal address set up, i offered to collect the paypal donations from everyone here, and then send a bank transfer to Brian. how much each person donates is up to you i guess, but please help as much as you can. i will make a list of people who have given donations and add that to this thread, but the actual amounts will remain anonymous. once we get a few donations in, i will start adding a 'total money collected' total to this thread, perhaps once every three donations.

donations can be made in any currency (euro, dollars, pounds), and the final amount will be converted to Euro, and then sent to Brian.

my paypal address is: moc.oohay|itiffarg_tuoba_kni#moc.oohay|itiffarg_tuoba_kni
and the account is in the name of: yuko nagamoto (mrs. hardoff)

please add any questions / concerns below.otherwise just send some paypal funds, and hopefully Brian can get this release done soon. He hasn't specifically said so, but i guess sending a donation will entitle you to a couple of copies of the finished product.

PROGRESS REPORT:

paypal already in from:

solypsis
ANE
subsonika
hooray
tomoroh hidari
iivix
thee crumb
junkshop coyote
uncivilized
keith hic

the current total (as of 2nd of march) is:
€638.22
