This guy is putting his whole collection of 78's online, 3600 of them, he is 2/3 through.
nice find.
Ooh, love stuff like this. Needless to say, bookmarked.
Sound quality is a little poor, no noise reduction at all (worth checking out releases by ASV/Living Era for some sensitive noise reduced re-recordings of this kind of stuff).
Having a quick search, looks like it's biased towards 1940+ (I'm into 1900-40 really), but there's some of my favourites: Ruth Etting, Billie Holladay, Ethel Waters
But missing my very favourites: Annette Hanshaw, Elsie Carlisle
Incidently, if this gives you a taste for pre-rock-n-roll type music, check out The 1920s Radio Network which plays all sorts of music from wax cylinder onwards, including ragtime, jazz, blue, swing, bluegrass, etc.
What are you trying to do, make me c*m in my pants?
Wow.
the arabic 78s are fan-fuckckcking-tastic.
